Dentro de la explosión Glan en la Gran Bretaña de los años 70(tenía entonces solo 21 años) esta figura femenina pudo competir dentro de la esfera del mundo  masculino del rock con su actitud subversiva,rebelde y llamativa,con gente tan popular y de la talla-por aquellos entonces-de The Sweet o Slade.

Enfundada en brillantes trajes de cuero negro y con la agresividad que le caracterizaba cuando cantaba sus canciones en vivo,logró sobrevivir en un sector artístico,que empezaba a ser cada vez más brillante y más machista y fue  precursora de grupos como L7, The Donnas,The Runaways o Joan Jet.

Fue la primera de las grandes damas del rock en adoptar una épica rockera vestida siempre de negro.Eran los comienzos de los 70'. Además,fue la primera mujer que tocando el bajo,se convirtió en estrella de este género musical.

Desde muy pequeña imitaba a Elvis Presley. A pesar de ser de Detroit-Michigan-Estados Unidos emigró a Londres,donde tuvo sus primeros éxitos a principios de los años setenta.Pero su gran éxito lo logró de la mano del productor Mike Chapman,como lo hizo Debbie Harry con "Blondie". Tiene canciones maravillosas que hablan de su estilo como por ejemplo Devil gate drive y la que aparece en este vídeo, Can the can.

A lo largo de toda su carrera como cantante Suzy ha vendido más de 50 millones de discos(próximamente cumplirá en el mes de junio 64 años) pero también ha participado en programas de radio y televisión como presentadora.
